The Island of St Martin/St Maarten is located at Latitude 18.02°N and Longitude 63.07°W, in the Northeastern corner of the Caribbean Sea and is half French and half Dutch, though you can get by anywhere with English.

St Martin/St Maarten is a small Island, about 37 square miles, with Dutch Sint Maarten on the South spanning 16 square miles and French Saint Martin on the North covering 21 square miles. The Island is the smallest landmass to be shared by two separate governments and in effect contains two states and two flags.

The Climate is Sunny and warm all year-round, with some cooling from trade winds. Average temperature during the winter season is 80° Fahrenheit and a few degrees warmer and humid in the summer

The Capital, Philipsburg, on the Dutch side is a busy bustling town, where shopping is the most popular activity. The many attractive shops sell luxury goods, catering mainly to the cruise ship visitors.

The Capital, Marigot, on the French side is where many Caribbean visitors go for practical shopping purposes - electrical equipment, kitchen appliances, cameras and car spare parts, as there are many warehouses in the vicinity of the town for this purpose.

St Martin/St Maarten is one of the best freeports in the whole Caribbean; it is excellent for Duty Free Shopping, Cheap Electronics, Jewellery & Watches, Alcohol & Cigarettes and Clothes.
